Did You Know?

9/11 was about the environment.

It’s bad enough that Obama went on The Great Apology Tour earlier this year, or said in the aftermath of 9/11 that we need to be more tolerant of other’s views. Now he wants to change the meaning of 9/11 to be so far from the events of that day that I’m sure the victims and their families are reeling from betrayal.

From inside the Obama White House, green jobs czar Van Jones has been orchestrating a campaign to greenwash the meaning of 9/11 using federal resources and a political front group he founded, new research suggests.

It is unclear if this is illegal but at a minimum it raises questions about ethics, self-dealing, and the proper use of U.S. government resources.

The group, called Green for All, was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in California on Dec. 11, 2007 by Jones. Green for All is one of two groups involved in a campaign called Green the Block. Green the Block was created "to educate and mobilize communities of color to ensure a voice and stake in the clean-energy economy," according to its website. Jones was also on the board of the Apollo Alliance, a hard-left environmentalist group that is now running large chunks of the Obama administration. The group has acknowledged that it dictated parts of the February stimulus bill to Congress.

In an apparent conflict of interest, Jones, a self-described "communist," presided over the White House endorsement of Green the Block in an online video conference on Aug. 4. Jones touted Green the Block's first major initiative which involved participating in the National Day of Service scheduled for this Sept. 11. He described the day as a great opportunity "for people to connect, to find other people in your peer group who are also passionate about repowering America but also greening up America and cleaning up America."

So we have a communist in charge of green jobs, one who clearly lacks the ethical compass to realize that his involvement in such a campaign is a direct conflict of interest.  One who is so obtuse that he believes his obsession with the environment trumps the nation’s expression of its grief.

Why 9/11?  This is supposed to be a day of national mourning, showing respect for the 2,996 murdered and thousands more injured and their families.  This should be a day of quiet reflection in honor of the worst tragedy to happen on our own soil in the history of this country.

Perhaps this will answer that question:

On a White House-sponsored teleconference call Aug. 11 leaders of these groups said that they view Sept. 11 as a "Republican" day because it focuses the public on supposedly "Republican" issues like patriotism, national security, and terrorism. According to liberals, 9/11 was long ago hijacked by Republicans and their enablers and unfairly used to bludgeon helpless Democrats at election time. Shifting the focus of 9/11 from remembrance to environmentalism and community service helps diminish the day as a Republican symbol, they believe.

Ah yes – I’m sorry I missed that one.  9/11 is a partisan day wherein Republicans rattle their sabers.  Where they engage in horrifying activities like encouraging our citizens to fly their flags, wear flag pins and observe moments of silence in honor of 2,996 innocent people who left gaping holes in the lives of their loved ones.

Because this country’s security and that of its citizens is strictly a Republican issue; only conservatives care about future terrorist attacks and the lives of their families and friends.

Well, that may be true actually.  Because it’s clear Obama and his cronies don’t really care about this country at all.

God – these people well and truly make me physically ill.

Why yes, let’s turn a national day of mourning into a day of environmental awareness, to green up and clean up America. Because that’s what why the terrorists attacked us on 9/11 – because we are a dirty, smelly, trashy place.

There is, in fact, an organization dedicated to promoting a National Day of Service on 9/11.  Their mission:

Our mission is to honor the victims of 9/11 and those who rose to service in response to the attacks by encouraging all Americans and others throughout the world to pledge to voluntarily perform at least one good deed, or another service activity on 9/11 each year. In this way we hope to create a lasting and forward-looking legacy -- annually rekindling the spirit of service, tolerance, and compassion that unified America and the world in the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Do you see anything in there about doing “green work”?  No.

In fact, the law that Van Jones is using as a cover for his cronyism was written for a much broader audience. The Edward M. Kennedy Service America Act was crafted in order to meet a mandate set by Obama:

President Obama has called on Congress to create new service and volunteer opportunities for Americans that will help to build a stronger country. This legislation answers his call. It will launch a new era of service that will give Americans of all ages the opportunity to help our nation recover and make progress on education, health care, energy and other key goals by volunteering, whether it is helping students achieve in school, weatherizing homes and greening communities, rebuilding cities in times of disaster, feeding the hungry, helping seniors live independently, and much more.

Where in that legislation does it talk about politicizing volunteerism?

Obama is an idiot.  Plain and simple.  These kinds of things make me wonder who is really running this country, because this guy doesn’t have the brain power to recognize a stupid idea when it smacks him on the forehead.

Every time I hear about how intelligent the One is, I have a hard time not sneering. I don't think he's very smart at all, just a good front man, and politics rules all in his life, I think. I'd like to know who's really pulling the strings myself!

He's a fool, and rapidly showing the country the fact. The man is not qualified for the job he holds. The plus is that he and his party have exposed themselves in less than a year.

America is beginning to resemble "Through the Looking Glass" with each passing day. You just couldn't make some of this shit up, even on the best of all possible street drugs.

I was thinking of Alice in Wonderland too, Buck. Every time Robert Gibbs opens his mouth on behalf of Obama I feel like I'm listening to the illogic from one of Lewis Carroll's characters.

Kris,

This is a wonderful post. You've written beautifully about something that is so angering, distressing, and disgusting. Obama and his gang of leftists are indeed "fundamentally changing America," just as he promised he would.

It makes me sick.

Luckily, there are people like you, and others, who speak out and hold them accountable. I believe that the American people will hold them all accountable in 2010 and in 2012. I can't wait.

I'd like to link to this, if you don't mind. I've wanted to write about it, but couldn't get started because of my anger. You have said it exactly right.

Thank you.
