Saturday Symphony - Bach
Saturday, November 1, 2008 at 12:02PM For your listening and viewing pleasure - I bring you Saturday Symphony. I hope to do this every Saturday - showcasing music that I love. It won't always be classical; my musical tastes are very eclectic.
I'm a sucker for Bach in any form - but the Toccata and Fugue always reduces me to tears. And this performance is no exception, especially considering it's done on an accordion. That's right. And it's not what you think - this guy is just incredible.
Enjoy.
The Oracle plays the accordion - he's a virtuoso with jazz improvisation. He was in awe of Ivano Battiston. I'm sure this one surprised you. It did us.
For further surprises, check out this hipper version of the Toccata and Fugue by the impossibly young, impossibly beautiful and ridiculously gifted Vanessa Mae.

Well, yeah. Surprising and beautiful that was. Both of 'em. The accordionist was also surprising in that he wasn't using any music (that I could see, anyway).
I'll admist to liking the second vid better, not in small part because the "visuals" were much more appealing. ;-)
those were both amazing
now I need to dig through my sheet music and see if I have a copy. Once upon a time, I could play that on the piano.
