Thanksgiving Comes First!

Buck @ Exile in Portales has a blog-friend - Suldog - who started a new tradition last year. One that I am happy to join in this year and hopefully - the good lord willing and the creek don't rise - I'll continue for years to come.

Thanksgiving Comes First!  That's right - it's at least 3 weeks before Christmas. I went to Home Depot yesterday; they already have their artificial Christmas trees for sale.  Last Thursday I was doing some errands and actually heard Christmas Carols coming from a Brookstone display radio.

It's not even Halloween for goodness' sake!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's a day devoted to being thankful for the blessings in our lives. Perhaps spending time volunteering with those less fortunate. At the very least for most of us it means spending time with family - without the stress we put on ourselves with Christmas shopping and gift exchanges.

We need to honor the holiday of Thanksgiving without completely obliterating the line between it and Christmas.

So - Thanksgiving Comes First!  If you are one of my blog-friends - please share your thoughts in a post about this on your own blog.

And thanks from me, as well. Jim does good work, doesn't he?

Thanksgiving comes first all right ... it's only 3 days away!
Well, it would be if you celebrated it right. :D

I was pleased and surprised to hear my youngest say that Thanksgiving is her favourite holiday; I thought the gift-giving at Christmas would trump all else. Pehaps there is hope for her after all! Actually I like that ours is celebrated in October. This is my favourite time of year; it's so beautiful and I find just admiring the world around me causes me to feel very reflective, thankful and peaceful. So Happy Thanksgiving, indeed.
